How much water should we drink?
Well that’s a tough question, but here is my answer.
Many studies indicate that 6-8 glasses is an appropriate amount. However, oriental medicine believes this to be a dangerous practice because it puts unnecessary strain on the kidneys. Science shows that when we drink plain water with few electrolytes, the body tries to excrete it as quickly as possible in order to maintain homeostasis in the blood. Researchers from both East and West warn that excessive liquid intake during meals dilutes stomach acid and overexerts other digestive processes.
On the other hand, drinking large amounts of purified or distilled water throughout the day – as a temporary measure has been successfully used to treat a number of diseases and ailments, such as kidney stones and toxemia.

A good rule is, avoid drinking too much liquid from 30 minutes before a meal to 2 hours after a meal, and be mindful to sip beverages slowly with meals.
